Activities include: The Study Room Program: which includes assistance with homework, educational games and activities, reading, and a computer lab. Fly Intelligent Sista's Together (F.I.S.T.): is open to young women ages 11-15. Weekly meetings include discussions on topics which impact their lives. Such issues include self-esteem, gender equity and identity, peer pressure, relationships, and racism. Group activities also include community service projects, fund raisers and recreational activities. Tutoring: is held Monday through Thursday from 5:00-6:00 p.m. This program provides a quiet environment with no distractions for on-to-one tutoring in all subjects, by volunteer tutors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A full staff of tutors is available during this time to assist with homework, practice sheets, reading, and writing. Books for silent and out loud reading are also available in our library. Thursday Night Basketball: is held on Thursdays from 5:00-7:00 p.m. This is a new program aimed primarily at middle and high school boys. During this time, the gym is accessible for the youths to play full court basketball. Friday Night Recreation: is held on Fridays from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Activities include: volleyball, basketball, foosball, ping-pong, computers, jewelry making, arts and crafts, movies, special field trips, concerts, dances, evening snacks and more!! Other Activities include: cooking, arts and crafts, sports, dance, multicultural activities, movies, games, holiday parties, sleep-overs, trips to St. James playground, Vilas Zoo and Park, visits to area museums, swimming at MATC, roller skating, ice skating and much much more!!! |
