GWC-ACHMM and Wisconsin Council of Safety Combine Efforts to Present its third annual 3-day CHMM Review Course in February 2006.
We are very pleased that our chapter has formed a partnership with the Wisconsin Council of Safety to offer the Academy's CHMM Overview Course. The first Overview Course presented through this partnership was held January 13, 14, and 15, 2004 and was very successful. Chapter members with extensive background in their topics are the instructors and the course is held in the Wisconsin Council of Safety facilities conveniently located in downtown Madison. Our chapter has put on a CHMM Overview Course for more than 10 years through the UW-Madison so we are experienced in putting on this course. The Wisconsin Council of Safety is a perfect fit for this partnership and attendees benefit from the services they are able to provide to make this course top notch! You may sign up for the course through the Wisconsin Council of Safety. Our next Overview Course is February 7-9, 2006, followed by the CHMM exam on Friday, February 10, 2006. (You do not have to take the exam.) Visit their website at www.wischamberfoundation.org/wcs and view their full schedule at
WCS TRAINING SCHEDULE. You can also contact Bryan Roessler to register or with questions at 800-236-3400; or email Bryan at wcs@wischamberfoundation.org
Remember that you must sign up to take the exam at least 6 weeks before the scheduled exam date. (Deadline for the February 10, 2006 exam in Madison is December 30, 2005). To obtain an exam application form, please contact the Institute of Hazardous Materials Managers (www.ihmm.org/), 11900 Parklawn Drive, Rockville, MD 20850, (301) 984-8969, or download it from www.ihmm.org/. There is an examination application fee and examination fee which must be included with the application when submitted to the Institute.
The cost of the Review Course is $595.
Current CHMMs who wish to take the course to qualify for recertification points can take the course for a reduced rate of $395. All course attendees will also get a free 1 year membership in our chapter!
Annually, we present a DOT General Awareness course in cooperation with the Wisconsin Council of Safety. If you are interested in more information, please contact GWC-ACHMM.
GWC-ACHMM is exploring a partnership with Clean Sweep to assist in their waste collection program.
Environmental Update - November 2004
GWC-ACHMM participated in the Wisconsin Council of Environmental Expo at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin in November. The course was well-attended and plans are already underway to present another pre-conference course next year.

Enter "The GWC-ACHMM Confined Space"
Feeling the need to keep up the tradition of hosting the most talked-about hospitality suite, members of the chapter met for months in advance to concoct appropriate games, special libations and food to feed the masses. We were rewarded with great attendance at our hospitality suite. Everyone got in the spirit by playing the game "Who Wants to Be a Toxic Millionaire", working with other attendees to get the correct answers. It generated lots of healthy discussions and tested everyone's knowledge of CHMM-relevant historical and current data. The camaraderie was wonderful to see and carried over into the rest of the conference!
The GWC-ACHMM Hospitality Suite in Chicago
Once again the GWC-ACHMM hospitality suite was a huge success. The only question remaining is "How are we going to top this?!"
