About one of America's innovative architects.
Increasingly recognized for influential design in the widest sense.
The Geo. W. Maher Quarterly chronicles the work and life of an architect whose tragic life has obscured his influence on American architectural design. Until the Quarterly was published little was known of Maher's work and information was not readily available. Years of research have begun to bring exciting information to light about this influential man. CLICK HERE to order the Geo. W. Maher Quarterly.
Maher's quintessential cottage design of the Schultz house in Winnetka, Illinois, of 1907. The segmental arch over the door, the horizontal band of windows, and the splayed front facade are signature elements of this period of Maher's career.
Here a design element becomes a building
in the 1908 design for the gymnasium at
Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois (razed).
